Christian SiegHow should we understand the political dimensions of "committed literature"? Neither the notion of "commitment" nor a list of political discourses in which post-war literature was engaged fully answer this question. Only by analyzing the function of religion in staging political authorship, an area previously neglected by scholars, does it become possible to fully appreciate the political content of post-war literature.
